You get one of three answers
The tag status sits at the top of the report in large type, exactly as the FASTag network returned it.
FASTag active
A tag is linked to this registration and the network reports it as Active. The report names the issuing bank and shows the last four characters of the tag ID so you can match it to the sticker on the windscreen.
FASTag found, not active
A tag is linked but its status is something other than Active, for example blocked, hotlisted or closed. The report prints the status word as received and names the bank to contact.
No FASTag found
The FASTag network holds no tag for this registration number. This can mean no tag was issued, or that the number could not be matched. That is a delivered answer. Check the number before running it again.
When to check a FASTag's status by number
The sticker on the glass tells you nothing about whether the tag behind it still works. The network does.
- Before a toll road A blocked or closed tag can mean paying a higher fee at the plaza. One check by number tells you whether to fix it before you leave.
- Buying a used vehicle The seller's tag stays linked to the registration number until it is closed. If it is still active, their bank pays your tolls, or stops you at the plaza when their balance runs out. Ask the seller to close their tag when the sale is completed.
- Which bank issued the tag You inherited a car, or the tag was fitted by a dealer years ago. The report names the issuing bank so you know whom to call.
- A tag you suspect is duplicated Two tags linked to one number can cause one to be hotlisted. A status check shows what the network currently holds for the vehicle.
- Fleet vehicles Check each vehicle's tag status by number without logging in to several bank portals.
- Before getting a new tag Banks generally do not issue a second tag for the same vehicle while one is active. The status check tells you whether the old one must be closed first.
What the report shows
Tag status
Active, or the status word the FASTag network returned, in large type at the top.
Issuing bank
The bank the tag belongs to. If the network holds no bank name for the tag, the report says Not reported.
Tag ID, last four
The last four characters of the tag ID, enough to match the sticker on the windscreen without exposing the full identifier.
As of the lookup time
The status as the network returned it at the time of the check, with the date and time printed on the report.
PDF you keep
Download the report before you leave. We keep no copy. The same device can reopen it free for 24 hours.
What is not included
This check answers one question: is a FASTag linked to this number and is it active? It does not read the wallet.
- Balance or recharge limit The wallet balance is a separate lookup. If you need the amount, run the FASTag Balance Check (₹49), which includes the status as well.
- Recharging, blocking or closing The report is read-only. Every change is made with the issuing bank it names.
- The full tag ID or account holder details Only the last four characters of the tag ID are shown. Names, phone numbers and addresses are never shown.
- RC, owner or challan details Registration status, owner, insurance and pending challans come from different records. Use RC Details, Challan Check or the Used Car History Check for those.
How it works
Enter the number
Type the registration number as it appears on the plate. Standard series and Bharat series both work.
Pay ₹49
UPI, card or net banking. One payment, no subscription. Your mobile and email are taken first so a refund can always reach you.
Read the status
The report renders in a few seconds and prints the time of the lookup. Download the PDF if you need to show the seller or the bank what the network reported.
If the tag is not active, or there is no tag
The report names the issuing bank where one exists. That is where every change is made.
- Blocked or hotlisted: call the issuing bank. The usual causes are a negative balance, a KYC gap or a duplicate tag on the same number.
- Closed: take a new tag from any issuing bank. Keep the RC and the owner's ID ready.
- No tag found and you are buying the vehicle: confirm the number is right, then ask the seller whether a tag was ever fitted.
- Active and you are buying the vehicle: ask the seller to close their tag when the sale is completed so their account is not charged for your tolls.
- Need the balance too? FASTag Balance Check (₹49) shows the status, the issuing bank, the available balance and the recharge limit together.
The other checks
Every check reads one registration number and shows one report. Pick the question you need answered.
