You get one of two verdicts
The verdict sits at the top of the report in large type. If there is a record, the FIR facts follow underneath it as recorded.
Not reported stolen
The registration number does not appear in the reported stolen vehicle records at the time of the lookup. The report states the date and time it was checked. Move on to the RC, owner and challan checks.
Reported stolen
There is a record against this registration. The report prints the FIR number, FIR date, state, district, police station, report date and current status, plus the make, model and colour on the record so you can match it to the vehicle in front of you. Read the status field first. Do not pay anything.
Why check a vehicle against stolen records
A stolen vehicle is often sold with a clean-looking RC card and a plausible story. The registration number is the key a record can be matched on.
- Buying a stolen vehicle costs you the vehicle If the police trace it, it is returned to the rightful owner. The buyer is left with no vehicle and a hard fight to recover the money.
- The RC card does not say stolen The physical card stays with the thief or is forged. Only the records behind the number carry the report.
- Cheap deals from a hurried seller A price well under market, a seller who avoids an RTO visit, or a plate that does not match the engine or chassis number are the classic signs.
- Transfer can be blocked later Even if the sale goes through, a later match against the stolen records can lead to action against the vehicle.
- A ₹99 check shows what the records hold One lookup against the records, before you meet the seller a second time.
What the report shows
The verdict
Not reported stolen, or Reported stolen, in large type at the top, with the date and time the records were checked.
FIR facts
If there is a record: FIR number, FIR date, state, district, police station, report date and the status of the case as recorded.
Vehicle on the record
Vehicle type, make, model and colour as noted in the stolen record, so you can see whether it matches the vehicle offered to you.
Masked identifiers
Engine and chassis numbers appear with the last four characters only. Compare them with the plate on the engine and the chassis stamping.
As of the lookup time
Records are checked at the moment you run the report. The report says so, and a fresh check is the only way to confirm a later change.
PDF you keep
Download the report before you leave. We keep no copy. The same device can reopen it free for 24 hours.
What is not included
This is a check against the reported stolen vehicle records. It is not a police clearance and it does not read the RC record.
- Complainant details The name, phone number and address of the person who filed the FIR, and where the vehicle was stolen from, are never shown. They are personal data and are not part of the report.
- A police clearance The report shows what the records returned at the lookup time. It is not a no-objection certificate from the police, and a vehicle with no record today can be reported tomorrow.
- RC, owner or challan details Registration status, owner name, insurance, fitness and pending challans come from different records. Use RC Details, Blacklist Check or the Used Car History Check for those.
- Mechanical or accident history No check on this site reads workshop, insurance claim or accident records.
How it works
Enter the number
Type the registration number as it appears on the plate. Standard series and Bharat series both work.
Pay ₹99
UPI, card or net banking. One payment, no subscription. Your mobile and email are taken first so a refund can always reach you.
Read the verdict
The report renders in a few seconds. Download the PDF and keep it with the sale papers. If the answer is Reported stolen, walk away and do not hand over any document of your own.
If the vehicle is reported stolen
Do not buy it, and do not try to settle it with the seller. The usual path is:
- Keep the report. It names the police station and FIR number on record.
- Do not share your own ID documents or pay a token to "hold" the vehicle.
- If you have already paid, inform the police station named on the record and keep every message and receipt from the seller.
- If the seller claims the case was closed, ask for the police release and run the check again after the records are updated.
If the vehicle is clear, the next question is whether the RC is active and who owns it. RC Details (₹99) gives the full record, and Vehicle Owner History (₹99) shows how many hands it has passed through.
The other checks
Every check reads one registration number and shows one report. Pick the question you need answered.
