Used Car History Check by Registration Number
Two records, one report: the full RC record from the VAHAN database and the pending traffic challans from the traffic authority database. It covers the vehicle's paperwork history, stated exactly, and nothing it cannot verify.
₹149 per check · result in seconds · no sign-in
Exactly two things are included
The report is built from two records and says so on every page. Here is what each one contributes.
The full RC record
Make, model, variant, fuel, colour, engine and chassis numbers, registration date, owner name and serial, RTO, RC status, insurance, fitness, road tax and PUCC validity, financer, NOC and blacklist flags, and permit details for commercial vehicles.
Pending challans
The unpaid traffic challans recorded against the number at the lookup time: challan number, date, offence, fine amount and status, with the total at the top and court challans flagged. If the challan database cannot be read, the report says so instead of showing a clean list.
What a paperwork history tells you
Most of the risk in a used vehicle purchase sits in the paperwork: who owns it, whether it can be transferred, what dues are pending. Read the report in red-flag order: the RC record first, for anything that blocks a transfer, then the challans, for anything that must be paid before it.
- Can it be transferred? RC status, blacklist flag and NOC status decide whether the RTO will put the vehicle in your name. All three are on the record.
- How much is pending? The challan section totals the unpaid fines recorded against the number at the lookup time, so you know the amount to have settled before transfer.
- Are any challans in court? A challan sent to court is settled through the court or a Lok Adalat sitting, not the usual portal. The report flags these separately; do not take over a vehicle with one unresolved.
- What will you pay on day one? Pending challans, lapsed insurance, lapsed fitness and unpaid tax are costs that can come with the vehicle. The report puts the dates and the amounts in front of you.
- What to settle before transfer Ask the seller to clear the pending challans and show the receipts, close any loan on the record, and renew lapsed documents, then run the check again.
- Is the seller the owner? The owner name and serial on the record should match the seller's ID. If not, an earlier transfer may not have been completed (also check spelling variants).
What the report shows
Red flags first
Anything that blocks a transfer or costs money is pulled to the top: RC not active, blacklist, loan, court challans, lapsed documents.
The RC record
The RC record, with the same fields as RC Details: identity, owner as the registry shows it, insurance, fitness and tax dates, and any financer.
Pending challans
The unpaid challans we could read at the lookup time, with date, offence, fine amount and status, the pending total, and a separate flag for challans sent to court.
PDF you keep
Download the report before you leave. We keep no copy. The same device can reopen it free for 24 hours.
What is not included
This report covers paperwork status. It never implies anything it has not read, and these are the things it has not read.
- Accident history No insurance claim, workshop or accident record is read. A clean RC record says nothing about whether the vehicle has been in an accident. Have it inspected.
- Service and odometer history No service record or odometer reading is read, and the report does not estimate odometer tampering. Ask for the service book and check it at the dealer.
- Past owners' names and stolen records The RC record shows the current owner and serial. The sequence of past owners and the reported stolen vehicle records are separate checks: Vehicle Owner History (₹99) and Stolen Vehicle Check (₹99).
- Address, father's name and phone Not part of this report, for privacy. Identifiers such as engine and chassis numbers are printed as the registry supplied them, which in some states means partly masked.

Read the report
The RC record is read first, then the challans. The report renders in a few seconds with red flags at the top. Download the PDF and take it to the inspection and the RTO.
What to do with the report
The report settles the paperwork. Two things remain that no record can do for you.
- Have the seller clear every red flag the report shows: pending challans, lapsed insurance or tax, and the loan closure if there is a financer.
- Match engine and chassis numbers, colour and variant against the vehicle itself before you pay a token.
- Get a physical inspection by a mechanic you choose. The report does not and cannot cover mechanical condition or accident repair.
- If the owner count matters to you, add Vehicle Owner History (₹99); if the price looks too good, add Stolen Vehicle Check (₹99).
The other checks
Every check reads one registration number and shows one report. Pick the question you need answered.
